Events are 'Go' again

After 4 months of lockdown it has been great to be back delivering an event. Albeit it with many mitigations against CoViD19 and a very small number of visitors – it has still been an event.

CoViD-19 the world over has put a stop to the vast majority of events in 2019, but as we have started to understand the virus slightly better we too can understand and devise ways to keep people a little safer.

We have been delighted to be able to work with the Three Counties Agricultural Society over the last 6 weeks to assess they different event options that could be run in a CoViD safe manner at their showground in Malvern, Worcestershire. Producing event safety management plans and CoViD risk assessments to ensure they were everything reasonably practicable to keep staff and visitors safe.

The showground estate covers over 100 acres, so gave us a great canvas to be able to keep visitors physically distanced and in the great outdoors and for them to enjoy the showground for a picnic or visiting the small outdoor market.

This first event named ‘Showground Saturday’ was essentially a test event for the changes made to infrastructure – such as adding additional doorways to toilets to allow a one-way flow, and to new mitigation measures.

How would the public react? This may be the first time many people had left their houses for several months and had not had to follow the new guidelines when attending events. On the whole our experience was very positive with everyone being accepting and compliant.

There were a number of learnings which we will take on board for future events to continually improve the level of safety at these new style events. Next up is a Food & Drink event in a few weeks time.

If you are planning and event or need advice on how your usual events can be made CoViD safe then please do get in touch.
